Following a foot pursuit, police arrested a man suspected of robbing the Quick Stop on East Main early Sunday morning.

Corey Nelms, 18, faces charges of aggravated robbery, fleeing, obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest.

According to the police report, around 2:02 a.m., police responded to the Quick Stop for a robbery in progress, but the offender fled prior to their arrival.

Nelms allegedly pulled a firearm from his waistline and demanded money from the cash register.

The clerk complied.

"The offender set the weapon on the counter to take the money," the report said. "(The victim) then lunged at the offender and wrestled with him for several minutes. The offender eventually got away and fled the store."

Several minutes later, police received a call from the Quality Inn hotel, where there was an individual matching the suspect's description.

Police made contact with Nelms, who allegedly ran east across the interstate. Police caught up with him in the 100 block of South Porter Drive, the report said.

"After a foot pursuit, officers apprehended the subject who actively resisted arrest," the report said.

A Blytheville officer apparently wounded himself in the process of apprehending Nelms, who reportedly confessed to the robbery.

The report said Nelms also matched the description of a shoplifter at Walmart earlier that day.
