The Blytheville Courier News has moved its website from www.couriernews.net to www.blythevillecourier.com. The new site has all of the features of the old site. In fact, the only change is the domain name. For those who contact us via email, the new email addresses will stay the same, for the most part, but they now end in @blythevillecourier.com, rather than @couriernews.net. For a few more days, if you type in the old address, you'll be directed to blythevillecourier.com.

Next Saturday, we will debut our "Women of Mississippi County" magazine.

We partnered with our sister newspaper, The Osceola Times, to produce the new publication.

We've had a lot of fun putting it together, and hopefully readers will have just as much enjoyment perusing the pages.

There are a lot of interesting local women featured, among them bankers, artists, police officers and more.

Again, we would appreciate any feedback -- what you liked, what you didn't like.

Last weekend was a good weekend for Blytheville.

A lot of folks were in town for the big Cal Ripken regional baseball tournament, evidenced by the busy restaurants and local businesses.

Hats off to tournament director Jonathan Howard and all those involved for a successful event.

The Blytheville Youth Sportsplex has certainly proven worthy of the taxpayers' investment over the years.

The Blytheville Baseball Softball Boosters has pumped some of its own money into the facility as well. Blytheville can look forward to many more big tournaments in the future.

Like BBSB, the Blytheville Area Soccer Association does a good job keeping kids active.

BASA is currently holding soccer signups.

Parents can register their children from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce building or from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the same location.

If you haven't experienced soccer Saturdays, you're missing out. Hundreds of brightly dressed kids race up and down the pitch in friendly, spirited competition.

It's a nice way to spend a Saturday morning in the fall.
