Seminole, Texas and Mobile, Ala. will square off at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the 12-year-old Cal Ripken Southwest Regional Tournament championship game at the Blytheville Youth Sportsplex. The winner moves on to the World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland -- the home of Cal Ripken.
The Texas team blanked Mountain Home, 6-0, Sunday night to survive and advance to the title game.
Mobile sent Seminole to the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament with a 9-2 win Sunday afternoon, remaining the only undefeated team.
Then, Mountain Home topped Little Rock, 27-19, sending the Junior Deputies home.
That set up the elimination game between Seminole and Mountain Home.
The Texas club scored two in the first on a home run from Aiden Ward, then two more in the third. The other two runs came in the sixth.
A win Monday morning gives Mobile the title. If Seminole wins, it would force the "if necessary" game, which would be 30 minutes following the first contest.
