Representatives from Tenaris told the CN Wednesday that despite rumors "there are no plans to shut down or change the operational status of the Blytheville plant."
As of April 24 of this year the plant in Conroe, Texas was temporarily shut down resulting in the layoff of over 200 employees.
That move left the Blytheville mill as Tenaris's only remaining welded pipe facility in the United States, which according to a media relations specialist Carolina Mendoza, "Secures the future plans to keep the Blytheville plant open despite its own layoffs in January and declined pipe market; we remain committed to long term growth in the domestic market."
The Blytheville plant will remain in operation on a reduced level until oil prices resurface.
