Mayor Don Marshall announced at Gosnell's City Council meeting Tuesday night that the roof on the chlorine building had been completed and that the Community Center Building roof was next on the list to be completed. Marshall also brought up the possibility of replacing the roof on the Humane Society building once the Community Center was completed.
Mayor Marshall gave a special thanks to Harsco Metals for bringing and grating slag for the bus alleyway. He also offered thanks to the National Guard for hauling and leveling dirt for the Gosnell Police Department's new gun range. Judge Carney and John Holified donated backhoes and other equipment for the dirt.
The Chairman of the Finance Committee made a motion to approve Mayor Marshall's suggestion to add a four wheel drive truck to the Gosnell Police's squad vehicles. Marshall said that during times of need such as major storm damage and snow and ice a truck would put the police department at an advantage.
In other business, it was announced by the Council that Gosnell would be holding its first ever Summer Festival on June 27. There will be a beauty pageant, live music and food.
"I encourage all to come out to this community bonding event, bring your lawn chairs, and be prepared to fellowship with everyone while enjoying good music and food," said Marshall.
The meeting ended with attention on Gosnell's Farmer's Market, which takes place every Saturday from 7a.m.-1 p.m. At the old airbase visitors' guard shack.
