A free Meet the Artist Reception, open to the public, will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.at The Ritz, 306 W. Main in historic downtown Blytheville.
Blytheville High School Junior Brooke Childs will be the featured artist at The Ritz Gallery for the Month of June, presented by The Arts Council of Mississippi County. Ms. Childs was featured last July, and this will be a showing of completely new works.
This young artist began her journey in art with graphite drawings while in the fifth grade. After a few years with this media, she began experimenting with painting the summer before she entered the fifth grade. The 15 pieces in this exhibit represent several different media. Brooke says the media varies with her mood, as well as the subject of each piece. She finds herself using graphite to capture her feelings, but paint to depict greater beauty.
The exhibit will be on display through the end of June. It is available for viewing during the hours of 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.weekdays, as well as evenings and weekends when there are other events at The Ritz.
