The Mississippi County March for Babies (March of Dimes) will be Saturday in downtown Blytheville.

The Mississippi County March for Babies (March of Dimes) will be Saturday in downtown Blytheville.

The walk will begin at 10 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m.

Over a hundred Mississippi County area residents will gather to take the "Mission Mile" challenge for stronger, healthier babies. March for Babies will provide a memorable and rewarding day for the whole family, including many family friendly activities.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. It is held in 700 communities across the United States and involves more than 7 million people each year.

The March of Dimes spends 76 percent of the money raised in March for Babies on research and programs that support, research offering prevention and solutions for babies born prematurely or with birth defects. (One in eight Arkansas babies are born prematurely.) It also supports educating women on how they can increase their chances of having a healthy baby and it pushes for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children.
