Judy Rae Blakney Harrington
Judy Rae Blakney Harrington, 65, of Blytheville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1949, to William and Ester Mae Strickland Harrington in Corinth, Mississippi. She was a former longtime employee of Parkview Nursing Home and was employed as a custodian at Arkansas Northeastern College when she became ill. She was a member of the Woodland Corner Baptist Church.
Mrs. Harrington's hobbies were singing, cooking and helping other people. She was well-known for her beautiful singing ability and sang often in churches and nursing homes. She enjoyed being a caregiver to elderly people which is why she liked her job at Parkview so much. Her banana pudding and chicken and dumplings were something her family always looked forward to, especially on holidays.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Knight.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Harrington of Blytheville;
Two sons, Dwayne Harrington (and Sheila) of Dalton, Georgia, and Randy Harrington (and Lisa) of Dyersburg, Tennessee;
Two sisters, Linda Tracy (and Larry) and Brenda Holt (and Bill), all of West Memphis;
Five grandchildren;
Fifteen great-grandchildren;
Four nephews and five nieces, including one special niece and caregiver, Wendy Langdon; and
A host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Carney Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell King officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Carney Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
