The Blytheville Police Department has announced the retirement of a veteran dispatcher. Martha Washington began working with the Blytheville Police Department in April of 1995, under the direction of Chief Ralph Hill. Washington is calling it a career, after serving the citizens of Blytheville and the surrounding communities for 20 years...

Blytheville Mayor James Sanders is shown Saturday at Martha Washington's retirement dinner held at the Village Café. He presented Washington with a plaque, which read, "Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement after 20 years of outstanding and dedicated service. You have set an example to be followed by others and cherished by those of us who were fortunate enough to experience it for ourselves. May the blessing of good health continue to fill your life with happiness."

Washington is calling it a career, after serving the citizens of Blytheville and the surrounding communities for 20 years.

She said dispatching has been a rewarding job and she has had the opportunity to meet and help numerous people over the years.
