A man apparently set himself on fire while riding in a car with his wife around 9 a.m. Wednesday on South Franklin.
According to the police report, after the fire went out, he sprayed lighter fluid on his wife and threatened to set her on fire.
The domestic assault report said as the victim was driving her husband, Terry Thurman, to a residence on South Franklin, they discussed an incident from the previous night. She told him that if he got into a fight he would go to jail, the report said.
Thurman allegedly said he didn't care and if anyone got in his way, he would "light their (expletive) on fire."
The victim said she was carrying Thurman's belongings to his mother's home and told him not to come home.
"Terry became angry and started yelling at her, telling her to carry him home," the report said.
When she wouldn't, he allegedly sprayed his body with lighter fluid and lit himself on fire, saying he did not care if he died, the report said.
"Terry kept telling her to carry him home," the report said. "(The victim) stated the fire went out on Terry."
The report said he then sprayed the lighter fluid on her right arm and face, while saying he would light her on fire.
The victim stopped the car in the 500 block of South Franklin and got out. She said she asked those in the vehicle behind her for a ride.
"Terry also got out of the vehicle and told the other people to give him a ride instead of her," the report said.
The victim returned to her car and left the area.
No injuries were reported.
