Leachville City Council met Thursday, April 2, in a special called meeting to discuss trash pick-up options. The contract service owner that had been picking up the trash for Leachville residents notified the city of plans to retire at the end of the month.
Four Council members, Ethel Hetler, Karen Wallace, Tommy Stone and Michael Webster, along with Mayor Ralph Wells were present and met with Jamie McCoy from Rivercity Hydraulics.
Following a discussion on the options of a lease/purchase agreement, the cost of fuel, tipping fees, and additional part-time employment, the council voted unanimously to go with a two year lease/purchase program for a truck.
According to Clerk Ruth Ann Keith, Mr. McCoy said Rivercity can have the truck in Leachville within a week and train city employees who will be working in the sanitation department.
