Jackie Eugene Wood
Brother Jackie Eugene Wood, 58, of Luxora, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his home.
Born Sept. 13, 1956, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to the late Jack Wood and Shirley Knight Wood, he worked as a carpenter and was saved on Aug. 31, 1986. He served in the ministry for 29 years, 13 of those years as the pastor at First Baptist Church in Luxora. He also pastored at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Fulton, Mississippi, Mount Vernon Baptist Church and Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Iuka, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie Wood, Irene Wood, Arnie Knight and Suzy Stafford Knight.
Brother Wood leaves his wife, Sandra Kay Wood of Luxora;
One daughter, Windy Shumaker of Papillion, Nebraska;
One son, Kevin Wood of Tupelo, Mississippi;
Two sisters, Kathy Viviano of Thomasville, Georgia, and Karen Duncan of Caledonia, Mississippi;
Four brothers, Joel Wood of Fulton, Mississippi, the Rev. Tony Wood of Golden, Mississippi, Terry Wood of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia, and Timmie Wood of Seymour, Tennessee; and
Six grandchildren, Courtney Shumaker, Abigail Shumaker, Jackson Wood, Blake Shumaker, Sara Catherine Wood and Sophie Wood.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dennis, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Luxora First Baptist Church with the Bro. Jerry George and the Bro. Tony Wood officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairview, Mississippi.
