BROOKLAND-The Gosnell Pirates opened the 3-4A season Tuesday night at Brookland and split a double-header with the host Bearcats. The Pirates lost the opener, 12-1, before bouncing back to win the night cap, 4-2.
The Bearcats led 5-1 before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.
Will Camp got the loss for the Pirates pitching five innings for Gosnell. The Pirates picked up just three hits and committed four errors in the loss.
Justin Mann picked up a win in game two. Mann scattered six hits and struck out four to pick up the complete game win. Michael Miller plated two hits to lead the Pirates at the plate.
Gosnell (2-1, 1-1 3-4A) is scheduled to head to Marion for a game on Friday at 4:30.
