The late former Arkansas State Sen. Steve Bryles was honored Saturday with the dedication of the newly named KIPP Blytheville Sen. Steve Bryles Memorial Campus.

Bryles' family, along with KIPP executive director Scott Shirey and many other KIPP faculty and staff and community members attended the ceremony.

Bryles, who served Blytheville and Mississippi County for two terms in the Arkansas senate, was instrumental in bringing KIPP to his hometown after attending the opening ceremony for the Helena campus in 2002. Bryles worked tirelessly for eight years to bring KIPP to Blytheville and in 2010 the school broke ground on its new home.
