FORREST CITY -- The Blytheville Chickasaws dipped below the .500 mark in the 5A East after an 83-70 loss to defending 5A East and 5A state champions, Forrest City Mustangs at Mustang Arena.
Blytheville led 21-16 after one period. Forrest City outscored the Chicks, 19-10 in the second period to take a 37-31 lead into halftime. The Mustangs distanced themselves from Blytheville in the third outscoring the Chicks 24-9 in the period to take a 61-40 lead into the fourth.
Issac Kelly led the Chicks with 14 points, Kylen Brown added 13 and Merrendes Jackson chipped in 10.
Blytheville drops to 10-8 overall and 3-4 in the 5A East. They are off until next Friday when they travel to Valley View to begin the second half of the conference season.
The Blytheville Lady Chickasaws dropped a 51-34 decision to Forrest City Friday night.
The Lady Chicks trailed 19-8 at the end of the first quarter and 29-18 at halftime. They were down 47-29 going into the fourth.
Dejah Prude led Blytheville with 15 points, while Timara Rogers chipped in 13.
