Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs claimed their fifth consecutive White County Central Basketball Tournament Championship with a 61-28 thumping of Southside Bee Branch Saturday night in Judsonia.

The Lady Mustangs fell behind 10-8 after the opening quarter before rallying to take a 23-12 halftime lead. BIC increased its margin to 39-18 after three periods of play and coasted home.

Hannah Poe led BIC with 20 points while Karoline Thomas put together a double-double, scoring 15 points while snaring 10 rebounds.

BIC advanced to the finals with a hard fought 47-45 win over Quitman Wednesday night. Poe paced BIC with 13 points while Thomas added 12. Madison Greathouse chipped in nine points.

BIC began the week, crushing Cross County 73-33 Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in 2A-3 conference play.

The Lady Mustangs buried 12 three pointers on the night, six by Poe, who led BIC with a game high 23 points. Thomas provided a double-double, scoring 16 points while grabbing 10 boards. Greathouse chipped in 13 points while dishing out six assists. Bailey Owens also netted double figures with 10 points.

Terra King and Brianna Lace led Cross County with 15 and 13 points respectively.

In junior high action, BIC rolled over Cross County 43-21. Heather Sipes led the Lady Mustangs with 22 points.

BIC returns to action Monday night when they play host to East Poinsett County.
