Buffalo Island Central dropped a heartbreaking 58-52 decision Monday night at Earle in 2A-3 senior girls basketball action.
The Lady Mustangs held a 12-6 lead after the first quarter before Earle bounced back to grab a 25-21 halftime edge. The Lady Bulldogs increased their lead to 36-29 heading into the final frame, but BIC rallied, outscoring Earle 20-13 to tie the game 49-49 at the end of regulation. Earle won the overtime period 9-3 to claim the win.
Hannah Poe led all scorers, pouring in 21 points for the Lady Mustangs. Karoline Thomas also hit double digits, scoring 14. Blaire Wildy tallied eight, Madison Greathouse pitched in six while Megan Webster added three.
Takilla Baker led Earle with 18 while Demundria Allen added 16.
In junior high action, Earle downed BIC 46-28. Rochella Scott led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 while Varity Sanders added 10.
Heather Sipes topped the Lady Mustangs with 10 points. Harley Miller scored six, Molly Hart tallied four, Cadyn Qualls and Haddyn Hurst added three points apiece while Morgan James added two.
In the Bay Invitational Tournament, BIC defeated Marmaduke 34-31 in overtime. Sipes and Hart paced the Lady Mustangs with 12 points apiece. James scored five, Hurst and Holly Stockton tallied two points apiece while Miller chipped in one point.
Natalie Lentz and Reesa Hampton scored 15 and 11 points respectively for the Lady Greyhounds.
