Rita Bailey
Rita Bailey, 80, of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Leachville, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the sanctuary at Holy Cross.
She was born in Mishawake, Indiana, to the late David and Jane Marie Roy Roche. She had served in the USAF where she met her husband, James Bailey, a career USAF master sergeant. They settled in Louisiana for some time and had also lived in Leachville for several years. She returned to South Bend in 2003 following James' death.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane M. and Janet L. Bailey; a son, James Bailey Jr., three sisters, Mary Folk, Jane M. Watkins and Christine Ake; and three brothers, David T. Jr., Francis C. and Joseph L. Roche.
She is survived by two sisters, Patricia (Jerry) Brucker of Granger and Elizabeth A. Mumaw of New Carlisle, Indiana; and
Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, a nephew and one great-great nephew, all who she loved dearly.
Funeral Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Palmer Funeral Home in South Bend, Indiana, with the Rev. Donald Guertin, CSC officiating.
The family received friends Tuesday evening.
A graveside burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3 at the Leachville Cemetery in Leachville, under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.
