GOSNELL -- The Gosnell School board voted Monday night to purchase a used 71-passenger bus for the district, at the price of $65,000.

The bus, a 2012 model, will be used to replace an older bus in the fleet -- a system which the district has been using for several years now.

In other business Tuesday, Elementary Principal Deborah Wammack said her school is making some adjustments to its after hours tutoring program to help students prepare for the new common core PARCC assessment. Kindergarten students are too young for after-school tutoring, so a slot is being opened up in the program for special education students.

Assistant Superintendent Kevin Evans, meanwhile, told the board that teachers are getting used to using iPads and Google Chromebooks in their classrooms, especially for math, and the devices have proven helpful in giving immediate feedback on student progress.
