This year's Ignite event has already begun, and the organization is underway on its Boxes of Love giveaway, which is coming up in December. The Ignite board recently met to finalize plans for the giveaway and start spreading awareness.
Boxes of Love is a program that helps supply a need throughout the community during the Christmas season, according to Danny Rigney, pastor at Pathway Ministries. Ignite, in years past, has given out 800 boxes of food serving around 3,500 people in the area. Along with the food, Ignite gets involved in helping provide hygiene items as well as toys for children in need.
"Ignite will give out food boxes to those in need and that are registered to receive one," Rigney said. "Ignite works through local agencies for families that may be struggling financially. Since 2007 Ignite has been serving in this area to make Christmas a better time for many. With the help of individuals, churches, businesses and local leaders this program continues to be a success."
Signup days are scheduled for Nov. 18 and Nov. 20 at the Blytheville School Service Center located on Highway 18. Donations for the Ignite program may sent to Ignite at P.O. Box 466, Blytheville, 72315. All proceeds are tax-deductible.
