Hospital tax is a
pure political tax
To the editor:
There is a half-cent sales tax for the Mississippi County Hospital System to be voted on on Oct. 14. This is a pure political tax. It is supposed to keep both hospitals in good financial shape for five years?
The Osceola hospital has been losing big money for a great many years. Why send more of our tax dollars down the drain? In five years, the hospitals will be broke again. The Blytheville hospital will show a profit when and if the Osceola hospital were to close.
There is no reason why the Blytheville hospital can't serve the whole county, considering that there is now a new clinic at Manila. It makes no sense to levy millions of dollars of taxes on us at this time.
