The board of the Solid Waste Management District met Wednesday to discuss options on insurance for recycling trailers, but took no action on purchasing.
Only one quote has been returned from requests submitted to insurance companies -- at $1,768 a year for the seven recycling dropoff trailers located throughout the county, with a $1,000 deductible. A quorum was not present at the Wednesday meeting, so members present agreed to do more research before making a decision.
New signs have been placed at the drop off trailers in Blytheville, instructing users in more detail about what types of materials may be left in the trailer. In previous meetings, Charles Betts of NuWay Recycling has said household garbage turning up in recycling bags is a problem.
Missy Langston said the communities of Armorel, Wilson and Leachville have all expressed interest in joining the recycling program by having their own local dropoff trailer.
