Two new retailers have officially signed leases for Chickasaw Plaza, according to Ryan George, who represents the site' developer.

Dollar Tree will be returning to Blytheville at this site, building a new construction out in the parking area, and new retailer, Dirt Cheap, will be renovating to locate inside the existing structure, opposite J.C. Penney.

George said Dirt Cheap, based in Hattisburg, Miss., is the largest buyer in the country of seasonal closeouts and insurance-damaged goods, and that the Blytheville store will be its first Arkansas location.

"We are still working with other retailers, but these two have officially signed their leases," he said. "We expect construction to begin soon. We worked with Mayor (James) Sanders a lot, he really helped us get some of these tenants lines up out there."

In other retail development news, the Blytheville area will also soon be getting a new car dealership. Bayird Dodge has erected a sign on East Highway 18, announcing the location of its new dealership. The dealership will be adjacent to the Tractor Supply store, now under construction. Bayird also operates a dealership in Kennett.
