LITTLE ROCK -- Rep. Monte Hodges has chosen to award his 2014 Serving up Solutions grant dollars -- $975 -- to the Blytheville/Gosnell Area Food Pantry.
"The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance thanks Rep. Hodges for his dedication to alleviating hunger in his district and throughout the state," said Kathy Webb, executive director of the Alliance.
"It's always rewarding to participate in such a worthy cause," Hodges said. "It also feels great to be able to bring money back to my community to help organizations like the Food Pantry."
Legislators who served at the annual Serving up Solutions fundraising event presented by the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance in cooperation with the Arkansas Legislative Hunger Caucus, received grant dollars to award to hunger agencies in their legislative districts. A portion of the proceeds from the event go toward Serving up Solutions grants, which can be awarded to hunger agencies such as food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens or food banks, to help them build the capacity of their programs in order to better serve the hungry Arkansans in their communities.
