The Arkansas Northeastern College Department of Fine Arts, along with Community Education, are looking for those interested in participating in "Follies!"
The production is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17 and 18.
The Follies was a very popular community event held in the 1980s in Blytheville. It brought people together in an atmosphere of music, skits and dances. Picture a variety show, with lots of different acts, or think about a vaudeville show from the 1930s.
The director for this production will be Michael Fisher, who is an adjunct theater professor at ANC. Fisher has directed many stage and musical productions in his career.
Because this is part of an ANC course called "Opera Workshop," the college has a core of students and community members to participate, but the greater community is also incited to get involved.
This event will serve as a fundraiser for the Fine Arts Department at ANC.
If you aren't able to perform, assistance is also needed with backstage work, set design/props and a monetary donations.
Participants are needed by Monday, Sept. 15. If you and/or your friends have an idea for a song, dance or skit, call Mary Ann Garren at 870-762-3168.
Rehearsals are at 5 p.m. Thursdays in the choir room at ANC, in the Sullins Building Room B-107 and/or the Adams/Vines Recital Hall.
