DYERSBURG -- The Dyer County Sheriff's Office, along with members of the Dyer County Rescue Squad as well as members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, spent the last four days searching for a man reportedly missing since the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug.30.
Robert A. Roberson, 48, with a listed address of 106 Shibley Street in Newbern, was reportedly last seen off of Holly Springs Cemetery Road in Dyer County where his 1995 Red Dodge Dakota truck was stuck in a field.
On Sunday afternoon, a search began in the area for Roberson, with local law enforcement officials in vehicles, as well as a helicopter courtesy of the THP flying overhead. The search continued on Tuesday as deputies from the DCSO, both on foot as well as on ATV's, as well as the Dyer County Rescue Squad combing the area looking for the missing man.
On Wednesday, cadaver dogs were called in to assist with the search. The dogs searched a 3-to-4 mile radius surrounding the location Roberson's truck was located and never posted an alert. The search continued on Thursday with no results, prompting Sheriff Jeff Box to appeal to the public for information regarding the whereabouts of the missing man.
"There's no sign of him (Roberson) in the area right now, and though there is nothing that would indicate foul play at this time, we have thoroughly searched and combed the area for days," said Box. "We're looking for any information from anyone that has heard from him or seen him, and we're asking anyone that knows anything to contact us."
A female passenger reportedly with Roberson at the time his truck became stuck in the field was able to walk to a nearby residence on Holly Springs Cemetery Road, where the resident contacted the Sheriff's Office. After arriving at the scene, the responding deputy found the truck and, according to the report, it was obvious someone had been working to free the vehicle from the ditch.
Roberson was last seen wearing blue jeans and was not wearing a shirt. He is listed as 5'8 and weighs 195 pounds, with tattoos on both arms as well as a tattoo of a heart on his chest with the name 'Regina'. Though it's believed Roberson left on foot, the direction of travel is still unknown.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dyer County Sheriff's Department at 731-285-2802.
