Humane Society volunteers attended the Westminster Village monthly coffee. A very handsome and gentle Yellow Lab who was found on the streets as a puppy was our main attraction. Several goals were discussed: spay/neuter to stop unwanted animals and recruiting more volunteers to walk dogs or be entertained in our roam free cat room.
Amanda Hopkins, a kindergarten teacher in Truman, wrote a book about her rescue dog, Daisy. That Bookstore of Blytheville hosted a book-signing for Hopkins and invited the Humane Society to bring dogs for adoption. Scarlett, a female Pomeranian, was adopted by a lady who had one adopted dog and knew that "every dog needs a dog."
A couple drove several hours to adopt Kiefer, a male Golden Lab mixed with Basset Hound. They saw him on petfinder.com and knew immediately he was meant for their family. They are both retired, so Kiefer will have lots of attention and another dog to play with.
Three puppies were dropped at the shelter, and within a week, Susie B. had a rescue and arranged for their transportation. More than 200 animals were transported to rescues over the past year.
Our annual dinner/auction is the first Saturday in October at the First Baptist Church. We hope you will plan to attend.
