LEPANTO -- Midway through the second quarter severe weather started rolling in, forcing Gosnell and EPC to end their scrimmage game early.
At the time the scrimmage was called, Gosnell was ahead 14-0 over the host Warriors.
The Pirate offense only got in about 10 plays, but cashed in two scores.
The Pirate defense was on the field for about 20 plays and had a couple of big fourth down stops, including a goal-line stand. Both of Gosnell's scores came through the air. Quarterback Dwight Griffin hit Michael Miller for a 10-yard touchdown and later tossed a 12-yard pass to Carlos Blackman, who turned it into a 68-yard touchdown.
Blackman also booted both extra points.
Gosnell's first touchdown was set up by a Brian Anderson forced fumble and recovery.
Justin Mann also had a big sack on fourth down for the Pirate defense.
The Pirates will open the season Friday night, when they travel to Harding Academy.
