Miss. Co. Farm Bureau holds resolutions meeting

Mississippi County Farm Bureau held its annual Resolutions meeting Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Northeast Research and Extension Center in Keiser.

John Tipton, president, gave a brief overview of the importance of the resolutions meeting and how Farm Bureau can make a difference. Policies developed/supported at the local level can go on to the state and even national level to benefit agriculture.

Tipton introduced Bill Sullivan who is serving as federation manager for Mississippi County Farm Bureau.

Jeremy Wesson, district NEA director, talked about promoting agriculture and the issues important to area farmers.

Brandon Veach, vice president and chairman, said proposals will be presented at the county meeting scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25, at Burdette.

Following a meal catered by Razorback Cookers, the group divided into committees to discuss issues and proposed resolutions. Committee meetings included national, state, and local affairs; rice, soybeans, wheat and feed grains; education and research and extension; and cotton.

Home Oil donated three guns for door prizes. A drawing was held at the end of the meeting with John Weiss winning the Browning pistol, Gavin Sullivan won the Benelli shotgun and Hugh Ashmore won the Henry Golden Boy rifle.
