"Buddy" Charles O. Nelson
"Buddy" Charles O. Nelson, 79, of Blytheville, passed from this life on Aug. 13, 2014, at the Gosnell Health Care Center in Gosnell.
Born to Charley and Shirley Terry Nelson in Huffman, he was a retired over-the-road truck driver and served his country with honors in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Churches of Christ, member of the Blytheville American Legion Post 24, Member of the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed working on cars but always was ready for another drive down the road. He was referred to as the "Wheel Man" while driving family across the country at times. Buddy was united in marriage on Aug. 13, 1957, to Patricia Ann Harry, the mother of his five children.
Buddy was preceded in death by two children, Charlotte Ann Nelson and Richard Allen Nelson, siblings, Robert Terry "Bob" Nelson and Gladys Peterson; his parents; and son-in-law, Kevin Means.
Buddy is survived by his children, Michael and Carla Nelson of Highland, Ark., Robert Harold Nelson of Dowagiac, Mich., Peggy Jean Means of Dowagiac, Mich.;
Siblings, Richard Wayne and Donna Nelson of Romona, Calif., Juanita and Bob Wallace of White Plains, Md., Patsy Britt of Huffman, Peggie and Keith Paluso of Blytheville;
Ten grandchildren; and
Fifteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, and a funeral service officiated by the Rev. Clifford Britt will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., with both services in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside committal service will take place at 3 p.m. in the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould.
