Charles Brent Dye
Charles Brent Dye, 82, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Gosnell Therapy and Living Center.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1931, in Leachville, to Charles C. and Nina Taylor Dye.
Mr. Dye served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. He served in Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Alaska and retired at Blytheville Air Force Base in 1974 as a senior master sergeant.
Mr. Dye was a student of the FBI Academy. He worked for the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, serving as captain in the CID for 7 1/2 years. He also served as the chief of police in Blytheville for 7 1/2 years.
Mr. Dye was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed his work and reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Struwe and Freda Inez Dye; and four brothers, Harlan, Vane, Thomas and Max Dye.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda R. Dye of Blytheville;
One daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ingram of Memphis;
Three sons, Charles Brent Dye Jr., of Melbourne Fla., William Harlan Dye of Shreveport, La., and Garland Wayne Dye of Hendersonville Nev.;
Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;
One brother, Spence Dye of Jackson Miss; and
Aa host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in Carney Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Tommy Carney officiating and Mr. Wally Thomas in charge of the Masonic Rite. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
