The Blytheville School Board met during a special session Tuesday to address personnel changes for the 2014-15 school year, which will begin in August.
Upon recommendation from Superintendent Richard Atwill the board approved the appointment of 11 new employees for the coming year.
At the high school, Virginia Andrews will join the science department; Dazialee Goodwin will be teaching math; Amanda Pearce and Logan Rebstock will be business teachers; and Danesha Roberts will will join the English department.
At Blytheville Middle School, Drake Johnson was hired in the math department and Morgan Jenny will be a part of the literacy team. Fourth-grade teacher Lakeysha Blackman, special education teacher Pacia Miller and math instructional facilitator Jana Wilson were all hired at the elementary school.
The board also approved hiring Teresa Whatley as administrative assistant to the superintendent, taking the place of longtime Blytheville Public Schools employee Lisa Stovall, who will be retiring.
Along with new hires, the board also approved a group of retirees and resignations. BHS ALE Director David White, BHS math teacher Ryan Bridges, BHS science teacher Sarah Holt, BHS social studies teacher Krystal Newsom, BMS math teacher Sharon Brown and BES fourth-grade teachers Sandra Davis and Carlecia Gentry tendered resignations. Middle school teacher Linda Williams retired.
