MOUNTAIN HOME -- The Armorel Lady Tigers advanced to the 1A state quarterfinals thanks to a 15-0 drubbing of Mulberry Thursday night in three innings.
Brooke Trout tossed a three-inning no-hitter but it was the Lady Tiger bats that put this game way out of reach. Amanda Skelton opened the scoring for Armorel with an over the fence home run in the first inning and senior Caitlyn Smith ended the game with a solo blast over the centerfield fence in the third. In between, the Lady Tigers posted 13 more runs on nine hits in the abbreviated contest.
Trout struck out five and walked two over the three innings to run her record to 16-3 on the season. She's allowed just one run over 32 postseason innings for Armorel.
Skelton (2-3, home run and 2 RBIs), Smith (2-2, home run and 2 RBIs), Rylee Nelson (double and an RBI), Abigail McCauley (1-2 with an RBI), Madison Harris (3-3, 3 runs scored and an RBI) and Katie Weld (2-2, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored) powered the Armorel offense.
