Jo Ann Browning

Manila -- Mrs. Jo Ann Browning, widow of Cecil Browning, passed from this life Saturday May 10, 2014, in Portland, Tenn., at the age of 81 years. Born June 9, 1932, at Manila, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Ethel Green Carpenter and was a lifelong Manila resident. Mrs. Browning was a former longtime cook for Manila Public Schools and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Alan Curnett of Greenbriar, Jerry Curnett of Portland, Tenn., Clifford Browning and Larry Browning, both of Manila; three brothers, Vernon Carpenter, Jack Carpenter and Larry Carpenter; one sister, Bonnie Reams. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 12:30 until service time at the chapel.
