Riverside fell behind early and couldn't recover as they fell 10-1 to Walnut Ridge in the opening game of the 2A North Regional baseball tournament this past Friday in Lepanto. The Rebels finished the season with a 14-8 record.
The Bobcats scored three runs in the bottom of first to go up 3-0. The Rebels offense could only muster three hits over the first three innings. Luke Baker got to third base with no outs in the top of the third but was left stranded there.
Kollin Stone singled to lead off the top of fourth and went to third when the outfielder missed the ball. Larry Tilley plated Kollin Stone with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1 Walnut Ridge. The Bobcats stretched their lead to 7-1 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Riverside's offense was retired in order in both the fifth and sixth innings keeping the score at 7-1. The Bobcats added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 10-1. Matthew Fraser got a one out single in the top of the seventh but was left there as back to back strikeouts ended the game.
Kollin Stone took the loss for Riverside pitching five and one third innings giving up 10 runs on nine hits while walking three, striking out two and hitting two batters. Cody Webb came on in relief giving up no runs and no hits. Webb struck out one and hit one batter.
Kollin Stone finished with two hits and a run scored to lead the Rebels offense. Towery, Baker, Fraser and Barrett each had hit. Tilley had a RBI.
