Buffalo Island Central got back on the winning track behind the strong pitching performance of Madison Greathouse with a 5-0 victory over Salem Friday night in the 2A Regional Tournament at Lepanto. The win advances the Lady Mustangs to this week's Class 2A State Tournament starting Thursday at Marked Tree.

Greathouse went the distance to improve to 19-1 on the season. The junior right hander allowed just two hits while fanning eight and issuing no walks.

Lexie Ray belted an RBI double and finished 3-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Mustang offense. Bailey Owens and Karoline Thomas also added two hits apiece for BIC.

The Lady Mustangs advanced to the finals with a come from behind 5-2 win Saturday afternoon over Marmaduke.

The Lady Greyhounds took an early 1-0 lead before BIC battled back, scoring a pair of runs in the second on RBI singles by Lexie Ray and Hannah Poe. The Lady Mustangs broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning. Karoline Thomas led off with a double and came around to score on Bailey Owens' RBI single. BIC tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to close out the win. Kensie Walker blasted an RBI double, scoring Ray in the sixth, before Madison Greathouse drove in Poe with an RBI hit in the seventh.

Thomas finished with three hits on the day while Greathouse, Owens, Ray, Walker, Catherine Colbert and Kelsey Strickland all added a hit apiece.

Tiffany Traywick took the loss for the Lady Greyhounds, giving up five runs on nine hits. April Kennedy and Brittany Banning scored the Marmaduke runs.
