LONOKE -- Will Camp has been clutch in both of Gosnell's 4A East Region Tournament games.

With the Pirates holding a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, Newport loaded the bases with no outs, sending the winning run to the plate.

But Camp entered to record three outs, including inducing a game-ending 5-3 double play to send the Pirates to the championship game with a 5-2 win. He also extended his hitting streak to 29 games.

Camp tossed all seven innings Friday as Gosnell secured a spot in the upcoming Class 4A State Tournament by knocking host Lonoke out of the regional.

First, the Pirates will play the winner of Brookland-Clinton at 2:30 p.m. Monday with the regional championship on the line. A bye in the first round of the 4A State Tournament, in Nashville, is also at stake.

Saturday afternoon, Newport got on the board first with two runs in the third inning. Gosnell (18-11) got one run back in the fourth, though the Pirates left the bases loaded.

They plated three more in the fifth to go on top 4-2 as Camp singled in Andrew Scott to extend his hitting streak. Gosnell added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

Middle reliever Peyton Thompson earned the win and Camp picked up the save.

Leading Gosnell at the plate were Scott (1-4), Chad Wright (2-4, double), Camp (1-3), Michael Miller, Ricky Gable, Carlos Blackman (2-3, triple), Thompson and Aaron Stallings (1-3).
