Buffalo Island Central remained unbeaten on the season, picking up three more victories in 2A-3 softball action last week. The Lady Mustangs swept a double-header Thursday afternoon over Cross County, defeating the Lady Thunderbirds 13-0 in the opener before taking the nightcap 15-0. BIC finished the week with a 4-0 shutout of McCrory Friday afternoon at Monette.
Madison Greathouse fired a pair of no-hitters in BIC's twinbill sweep over Cross County. Greathouse worked five innings and struck out 11 in the opener. The junior right-hander also helped herself at the plate with a pair of singles. Karoline Thomas provided the big blow, blasting a three run homer. Thomas finished the day 2-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Hannah Poe added a pair of singles and scored three times.
Greathouse faced the minimum number of batters in winning the nightcap. The game ended after only two innings because of the 15 run rule. Greathouse led BIC at the plate, going a perfect 3-3 while driving in three runs. Blaire Wildy and Kenzie Walker both went 2-2 and scored two runs apiece.
BIC improved to 1-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play with Friday's win over McCrory. Greathouse (6-0) picked up the win, throwing a complete game. Greathouse fanned seven while scattering seven hits. Greathouse also singled, doubled and scored a run for the Lady Mustangs. Kelsey Strickland had a pair of hits and drove in two runs while Hannah Poe also contributed two singles.
In other softball action, East Poinsett County disposed of Riverside 9-6. Kaylan Wilson and Sarah Tacker combined to strike out 11 Lady Rebels. Everyone in the EPC lineup picked up a hit. Kaitlyn Hale led Riverside at the plate with four base hits.
