ARMOREL--The Armorel Tigers continued their dominance over the 1A-3 East conference with a sweep of Crowley's Ridge Academy Thursday night at Billy Brown and Hugh Don Ashmore Field.
With wins of 12-2 and 19-4, both in five innings, the Tigers improved to 6-0 in league play and 8-8 overall. They've outscored their conference foes, 100-10, with no game going the full seven innings.
GAME ONE
Armorel 12, CRA 2
Armorel scored five runs over the first two innings and never looked back on their way to a 12-2 win over CRA in five innings Thursday night in game one of a 1A-East double header.
Peyton Brown pitched four innings of scoreless ball allowing no runs on just one hit while striking out seven to pick up the win for the Tigers.
The Tigers scored five more run in the fourth and two more to end the game in the bottom half of the fifth. Nieko Sorrentino (triple, double and two RBIs), Ashton Kennedy (two hits and two stolen bases), Nash Winters (double, single), Seth Wyatt and Zack Gray picked up hits to lead the Tiger offense.
GAME TWO
Armorel 19, CRA 4
Armorel exploded for seven runs in the first inning on their way to a 19-4 win in the nightcap of Thursday's twin-bill.
Dallas Nicholson struck out seven in three innings to pick up the win. Nicholson also had two hits and four RBI's at the plate to help his cause.
Armorel scored two in the second, four in the third and six more in the fourth to put the game away early.
Nicholson, Seth Wyatt (double, two hits and an RBI), Nieko Sorrentino (triple, two hits and two RBIs), Zack Gray (a hit and two runs scored), Ashton Kennedy ( a hit and three runs scored), Peyton Brown (a hit and two RBIs) and Logan Blankenship (a hit and a run scored) powered the Armorel offense.
Armorel has the weekend off. They return home Monday for a non-conference matchup against 3-4A Brookland before hitting the road on Tuesday for a 1A-3 East contest at Bay.
