ARMOREL--The Armorel Lady Tigers softball team continued their winning ways over 1A-3 East competition by sweeping a doubleheader against the Black Rock Lady Zebras Thursday night.
Armorel won the first game, 16-0 and game two, 18-1.
The Armorel baseball team defeated Rivercrest, 4-3, Thursday night. Stats for the boys game were not available at press time.
GAME ONE
Armorel 16, Black Rock 0
Armorel pitchers, Abigail McCauley and Katie Weld, combined for a 16-0 shutout in game one against Black Rock Thursday night. All nine Black Rock outs in the three-inning game were strikeouts.
Armorel scored three in the first, seven in the second and six more in the third in the three-inning contest.
McCauley struck out six on no hits over two innings while Weld struck out three and allowed one hit in one inning of work.
McCauley, Weld, Madison Harris, Rylee Nelson Caitlynn Smith, Olivia Luttrell, Amanda Skelton, Brooke Trout, Tia Selles and Ashlynn Brees all scored runs for the Tigers.
GAME TWO
Armorel 18, Black Rock 1
Madison Beal and Luisa Towery teamed up on the mound for the Lady Tigers in an 18-1 win in game two in three innings.
Beal struck out two in two innings of work and Towery struck out two in the third and final inning.
Armorel scored six in the first inning, 10 in the second and two in the third on their way to their fourth consecutive conference win.
Olivia Luttrell, Kala Pruett, Ally Young, Madison Beal, Catelynn Smith, Lunden Stallings, Emily Jo Gentry, Luisa Towery and Amanda Allison all scored runs for the Tigers. Armorel is now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the 1A-3 East.
