Mississippi County Retired Teachers Association members met at the Manila School District on Thursday, March 13.
On hand to welcome the retired teachers and school employees from across the county were administrators Pam Castor, superintendent; Chris Ferrell, assistant superintendent; and LeeAnn Helms, middle school principal. Also welcoming the group was Manila High School FEA (Future Educators of America) president Haley Henderson.
Castor greeted the group inviting them to look around the campus.
Rogers Ford, president of the county organization, said the group is enjoying visiting the different schools each month.
"Meeting at the different schools gives us the opportunity get out and visit the places we have spent so many years and see the changes," Ford said.
They enjoy visiting with old friends and making new ones as they meet across the county. The April meeting will be held at Rivercrest.
"We welcome all retired educators and school staff to be a part of our organization," Rogers said. "The membership is only $10 a year."
The Mississippi County group will host next year's state convention. It will be held in May 2015 at Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville. This year's event is being hosted by Crittenden County Retired Teachers Association.
Following lunch serving in the cafeteria, a short business meeting was held.
