PARAGOULD -- After picking up a key 10-point victory over the Ridgefield Christian Warriors Wednesday night, the Armorel Tigers needed another 10-point win Friday night -- this time over the Crowley's Ridge Academy -- if they were to clinch the third seed in the 1A-3 East district tournament beginning Feb, 17 at Armorel. The Tigers got the 10 point spread, and plenty more, in a 72-41 win Friday night over the Falcons.

The Tigers led 21-15 after one period before outscoring the Falcons, 21-6 in the second period to take a commanding 42-21 lead at the break. Nash Winters scored 11 points in the period and was 6-6 from the free throw line.

Senior Peyton Brown took over in the third period scoring 12 of his 16 points as Armorel took a 65-35 lead heading into the fourth.

Dallas Nicholson led all scorers with 20 points and five rebounds for the Tigers. Brown grabbed seven boards to go along with his 16 points. Winters added 14 points along with four boards, four blocks and four assists. Lane Finley chipped in six points while grabbing 10 rebounds and four assists and Zack Gray scored eight points and dished out seven assists.

The win clinched the third seed for the Tigers in the 1A-3 East. They'll host the district tournament which begins Monday, Feb. 17.

JUNIOR HIGH

Armorel 55, CRA 32

Behind a game-high 19 points from Monroe Carr, the Armorel junior Tigers clinched the 1A-3 East regular season championship and the number one seed in the district tournament with a 55-32 win over CRA Friday night.

Armorel (9-1 1A-3 East) led 20-5 at the end of the first period, 34-15 at halftime and 50-20 heading into the fourth.

Along with Carr, Trevon Tate scored 10 points and grabbed six boards. Logan Blankenship chipped in nine points, pulled down seven rebounds and swiped four steals. Seth Wyatt scored six points and dished out seven assists.

The junior Tigers begin the 1A-3 East district tournament at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday night at Ridgefield Christian in Jonesboro. They'll take on the winner of Monday night's CRA vs. Black Rock game.
