Riverside traveled to Rector Monday night to face the state's second ranked team, but fell short, dropping a 64-49 decision on the Lady Cougars' home floor.
Rector came away with an 18-14 lead after the first quarter and held a slim 34-33 edge at the half. The Lady Cougars stretched their advantage to 50-43 after three periods of play before pulling away in the final frame.
Anna Blackshare paced Rector with a game high 19 points while teammates Kendall Gunn and Kristen Smart added 13 and 10 points respectively. Rector made 12-17 foul shots and hit one three pointer.
Kenzley Wilson topped the Lady Rebels with 15 points while Chelsea Nichols was next with 12 points, including four three pointers. Anna Brickell, Skylar Kauke and Gattlin Hale all netted seven points apiece while Catlyn Sailor added one. Riverside connected on 11-18 free throws and drained five treys.
Riverside (16-9, 6-6 2A-3) downed Augusta 46-38 Thursday night on the road. Kenzley Wilson led the Lady Rebels with 13 points and nine rebounds while Chelsea Nichols added 12 points on four three pointers. Gattlin Hale scored eight, Anna Brickell had seven points and 12 rebounds, Skylar Kauke tallied six while Jordan Miller pitched in four. Riverside hit 13-23 free throws on the night.
The two teams battled to an 8-8 tie after the first period of play before Riverside pulled away for a 26-16 halftime lead. The Lady Rebels took a 39-26 advantage into the fourth quarter.
In junior high action, Riverside defeated Rector 30-14 before doubling up Augusta 36-18.
The Lady Rebels (14-9, 7-5 2A-3) were led by Haven Robertson's 13 points in their win over the Lady Cougars. Carson Smith scored seven, Hattie Milligan tallied five while Brittney Sain, Britany Kelems and Morgan Booth added two points apiece.
Riverside led 7-6 after one quarter, 17-6 at the half and 21-12 entering the fourth period.
Haven Robertson scored 13 points in leading Riverside past Augusta. Bailey Fisher was next with nine points while Carson Smith and Hattie Milligan chipped in four points each. McKenna Beach pitched in three points.

Riverside returns to action Monday night with a road trip to face conference foe Marked Tree. The Lady Rebels will complete the week of play hosting McCrory Thursday night in another league battle.
