Manila's Lady Lions continued their winning ways with a pair of convincing 3A-3 conference victories in senior girls basketball action last week. The Lady Lions, currently ranked third in the state in Class 3A, improved to 20-2 overall and 9-1 in conference play.

Manila began the week, trouncing Osceola 90-26 Monday night. The Lady Lions scored a whopping 54 points in the first half and cruised to victory. Kailen Shelton led Manila with 20 points while Emily Cook and Taylor Harmon chipped in 14 points apiece. Deven Burrow also hit double digits, scoring 11 points, while Taylor Teague dished out 10 assists.

Manila thumped Corning 68-47 Tuesday night. The Lady Lions led 16-7 after the opening quarter and held a 33-20 halftime advantage. Manila stretched its lead to 55-35 entering the final frame.

Kailen Shelton topped the Lady Lions with 18 points. Emily Cook was next with 17 while Taylor Teague added 16. Kirsten Adcock, Deven Burrow and Taylor Harmon all pitched in five points apiece while Courtney Scott added two points.

The Lady Lions connected on 15-17 free throws and nailed seven treys.

Shayna Casinger led the Lady Bobcats with 12 points while Landon Brownfiel added 10. Corning hit 7-15 free throws and drained six three pointers.

In junior high action, Manila squeezed past Corning 33-32 behind the 12 point performance of Hannah Teague. Hannah McQueen scored eight, Jordan Tyler had seven while Jordyn Wheeler chipped in six points.

Kaytee Manah led Corning with 11 points.

The Lady Lions led 10-7 after the first quarter and stretched their advantage to 20-14 at the half. Corning rallied in the third period to take a 27-25 edge into the fourth period.

Manila returns to action Monday night when they travel to Corning to take on the Lady Bobcats in 3A-3 conference action. The Lady Lions will journey to Hoxie Thursday night for another league battle.
