Rubena Battles
Mrs. Rubena Battles, 98, daughter of the late Charlie Ford and Rose Burns Ford, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014. She was born Dec. 5, 1915, in Magness, Ark.
Mrs. Battles was a resident of Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Samford Church of Christ in Steele, Mo.
On Jan. 17, 1931, she was united in marriage to Elmer Battles in Blytheville. Mr. Battles preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1984.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Battles; a grandson, Roger Battles; a great-great-granddaughter, Jordan Green; and four sisters, Fannie Stanley, Maggie Lou Maxwell, Twyla Galloway and Freida McCoy.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Sutton of Luxora;
Two sons, Bobby Battles and wife, Marlene, of Steele, and Elmer E. Battles and wife, Joyce, of Dexter, Mo.;
Eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and
Many great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, Mo., with Mr. John Smith officiating. There will be no visitation. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.cobbfuneralhome.com. Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville is in charge of services.
