Mr. George Ward Jr., 72, of Jonesboro, formerly of Osceola, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born Feb. 26, 1941, he was a retired city worker for Osceola and a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mattie Woodson and Lenora Anderson; and three brothers, Isaac Jackson, Nathaniel Jackson and Jessie Ward.
Mr. Ward leaves three daughters, Darlene Real and Brenda Ward of Osceola, and Pamela Ward of Chicago, and two step-daughters, Antionette Vornes and Rochelle Seal of Osceola;
Three sons, Vincent Ward of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Kevin Ward and Michael Ward of Phoenix, Ariz., and two step-sons, Antwon Vornes of Jonesboro and Terry Vornes of Osceola;
One sister, Georgia Tiggs of Jonesboro; and
One brother, James Ward of Osceola.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola with Dr. Moses Black officiating. Burial will follow at Whiteside Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.
