The Delta Gateway Museum is inviting area residents to come out Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon for its latest "Heirloom Saturday at the Museum." The theme for this month is vintage Christmas ornaments and decorations.
"We would love for members of our community and our region to bring in their own vintage and collectible Christmas decorations. The idea is to share your treasured heritage with others," said Museum Director Leslie Hester.
The museum has also decorated for the holidays with help from several community volunteers. Hester thanked Len Williams for loaning his extensive collection of beautiful Jim Shore Santa figurines; Karen Davis for decorating a farm theme Christmas tree; Emily Ellis and her fourth- and fifth-grade KIPP Blytheville art students for decorating a tree; Chris Perkins and his BLI group for decorating a tree sponsored by The Haven; Donna Hester and Blytheville Middle School's National Junior Honor Society for decorating a tree; Rachel Redican and her Blytheville Primary School art students and parents for making luminary bags; Michelle Rathgaber and Angie Trotter for decorating the museum's 1950s theme tree; and Dickie McClendon for loaning his electric train sets. Hester also thanked Barney Nawyns, who made and donated museum stanchions.
The museum is located in the historic Kress Building in downtown Blytheville. For more information, contact Hester at lhester43@yahoo.com or 870-824-2346 or visit www.deltagatewaymuseum.org.
