Guelda Lee Deason
Guelda Lee Deason, 80, of Manila passed away Dec. 7, 2013. She was born Nov. 28, 1933 in Manila to the late William M. and Clara G. Harrelson-Simpson. Mrs. Deason was a seamstress most of her life and was a faithful member of the Blackwater Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading and spending time at the Manila senior center visiting with friends and center playing cards.
Mrs. Deason was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her loving husband, Bennie H. Deason in 1996; a daughter, Janice Lee Riggs; a grandson, Dustin Riggs; two sisters, Lottie Reed and Evelyn Lipton, and a brother, John Simpson.
Survivors include her son, David Deason and wife, Jeannie of Alabaster, Ala.; daughter,
Rhonda Deason of Houston, Texas; sister, Nella Lee of Blytheville; brothers, J.B. Simpson and wife Anna Belle and Morris Simpson Jr., both of Manila; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the chapel of Howard Funeral Service in Manila with interment to follow in Manila Cemetery with Rev. William Piercy officiating under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
Visitation was at Howard Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
