Sandra Leigh Nolen Baker
Little Rock -- Sandra Leigh Nolen Baker left this earth peacefully and crossed The Rainbow Bridge on Nov. 17, 2013, at 1:03 p.m., with her loving husband, daughter and cousin by her side. Sandy was born Sept. 21, 1946, in Little Rock to the late Jean (Pharis) and Truman Nolen. She lived most of her days in Little Rock, a city girl to the fullest.
Tommy and Sandy found each other late in life and had a marriage full of trust, respect and especially love. Sandy was a true believer in Christ and gave herself to the Lord at an early age. Throughout this terrible illness her faith was reaffirmed in many discussions with her husband and others she trusted and loved. Sandy will be remembered for beauty both inside and out, never saying a bad word about anyone. She was a true animal lover in all respects with special memories of Tiffany and Brandy, her first beloved Greyhound rescues. She leaves Pepper (Jax Flood) to wander the house and look for his Mommy.
Sandy leaves this earth to be remembered forever by her husband, Tommy Baker and daughter, Kimberly Crawford. She also leaves two stepdaughters, Tommie Andrews of Tucson, Ariz., and Missy Baker of Dallas, Texas; a special cousin, Dianne Jenkins and brother, Robert; her brothers, Terry Nolen (Kay) of Arlington, Texas, and Garth Nolen of Fayetteville; a special friend, Jolene Coop, of Little Rock and a host of friends and extended family.
A celebration of Sandy's life was held at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Road) at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, officiated by Rev. Thompson Murray. Visitation preceded the service beginning at noon. Casual attire for everyone, please.
Pallbearers were John Flake, George Wells, Bruce Cooper, Buddy Young, George Coffman, Jerry Puryear, George Moye, Ronnie Thompson, Rick Edwards and Monte Vickers.
At her request burial was private. In lieu of flowers a donation in her memory can be made to the Midsouth Greyhound Adoption Option 1550 Ingram Blvd., West Memphis, Ark. 72301.
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE: There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches. The ears are up. The eyes are staring. And this one runs from the group.
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again. And you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together. Never again to be separated.
Sandy has now crossed the "Bridge."
