ARMOREL -- The Armorel Lady Tigers dropped their first 1A-3 East conference game of the year in a 47-44 loss to the Bay Lady Yellowjackets, Thursday night.
Trailing by 11 heading into the fourth, the Lady Tigers (1-1 3A-East) tied the game up late before Bay eventually won the game. Both teams shot 23 free throw attempts with Bay making 18 of theirs to Armorel's 10.
Bay led 13-10 at the end of the first and 30-18 at halftime before taking a 38-27 lead into the fourth period.
Three Lady Tigers finished in double figures. Amanda Skelton led the way with 15 points, three rebounds and three assists; Tia Sellers scored 13 points and grabbed 10 boards; and Shelbie Collard scored 12 while collecting eight rebounds.
Katie Ferguson led all scorers with 26 for Bay.
The Lady Tigers host Piggott on Tuesday beginning with the 7th grade game at 5 p.m.
JUNIOR HIGH
Bay 28, Armorel 23
Bay used a 17-3 second quarter to get by Armorel, 28-23, Thursday night in junior high action.
Armorel led 14-7 after one period before Bay exploded in the second to lead 24-17 at halftime. The Yellowjackets led 24-18 heading into the fourth.
Whitney Wagganer led the way for Armorel with nine points, five steals and four rebounds. McKinley Carr scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds and Rachel McKuin grabbed eight boards along with three points.
